Imagine living in your home city amongst fighting, war, and death trying to make it in life, only to have your home destroyed, then having to sail to a place where you think, will bring refuge and peace. Now attempt to envision the devastation on your child's face when you and your family finally arrive at the promised land only to find out that there is no food. There is no water. There is no shelter. There is absolutely nothing but desolation.
There are thousands of refugees in Kos with nothing but the clothes on their backs, forced to make shelter on the ground with nothing to eat or drink, and no possible way of sanitation. The exiles came to Kos looking for a safe haven due to the ongoing turmoil in Aleppo, while Kos is doing little to nothing to aid the Syrian people.
It is completely bewildering to me that the one thing the poor refugees want is seemingly unobtainable. One simple thing that thousands of millions of people have in not only Kos but around the world, and that is a better life. Though so far they can't even receive a respectful welcome.
